Defense during combat
Staying out of range
- Best way to stay out of trouble is to remain undetected by enemies by staying out of enemy range as long as possible.
- Use key M to activate navigation map and
RANGESto determine if you stay outside detection ranges of enemies. - Enemies typically take longer to identify you upon entering their detection range than to keep repeatedly attacking you while you are in range.
Avoiding Anti Air Artillery
- Enemy Tanks often have anti air capabilities and will try to shoot you if you will be within their firing range (see nav map and
G-GNDrange option to see it's range. - Enemy tanks will aim their flak somewhere in front of you - you can increase your changes of not being hit by changing your course.
- Note that time acceleration will automatically get deactivated if your aircraft will enter within AAA range of enemy tank.
Enemy missile evasion
Enemy fighter and enemy SAMs will fire missiles at you if you are within their detection range.
Warning leds on the right side of the radar will help you identify the kind of threats: * "R" blinks when your aircraft is within range of enemy ground radar station. * "A" blinks when enemy Air to Air missile flying towards you is detected. * "S" blinks when enemy Surface to Air missile flying towards you is detected.
- You can press F key to release flares to temporarily blind enemy Air2Air missile's guidance system.
- You can press C key to release chaffs to temporarily deactivate enemy Ground2Air missile's guidance system.
- You can also turn and fly perpendicular to enemy missile trajectory to try to outmanoeuvre it.
Missile position can be visible as blinking dots on navigation map, activated with M key.
Damages / repairs
You can see damage report on the left MFD Mode 4: DAMAGES.
You can land in your home airbase to refuel, rearm and repair minor systems malfunctions.
Note that fuselage damage is not being repaired.
