Difficulty settings screen

Note

You can click on EASY, MED (merium), HARD labels above settings to set all settings to given level.

Difficulty settings can only be set at campaign start.

It is recommended to aim at the hardest playable settings first and only change "Plane hitpoints", "Countermeasures amt" and "Weapon realism" to MEDIUM make game less challenging.

Settings description

Plane hitpoints
How many hits player's fighter can receive before being destroyed.
Remaining hitpoints amount are visible. You can see damage report on the left MFD Mode 4: DAMAGES. It is recommended to start with EASY setting (30 hitpoints).
Plane malfunctions
How often and what kind of plane malfunctions plane can receive. Example of damages:
  • FUEL - fuel tanks are leaking fuel
  • ENGINE - less engine power
  • FCS - Flight Control System - your fly-by-wire control system fails and plane performs unconrolled yaw/pitch/roll maneuvers
  • RADAR - guided missiles cannot be fired, so only cannon, unguided missiles and bombs can be fired
  • HUD - Head Up Display damaged - performs reandom
You can see kind of damage sustained on the left MFD Mode 4: DAMAGES.
Countermeasures amt
How many chaffs and flares used to evade enemy air 2 air and ground 2 air missiles are available onboard your fighter.
Weapon realism
How much damage player's weapons cause to enemies.
On easier levels it is easier to destroy heavily armoured objects with less explosive weapons - for example bunker with Maverick missiles.
EASY level also provides unlimited ammo.
Since v.1.4.0 on HARD and since v.2.0.0 also on MEDIUM level radar lock is maintained only if locked target is within forward radar detection cone (128 degrees wide)
Weapon realism also affects amount of reaming possible in home airbase in WARFARE game mode.
It is recommended to play with MEDIUM or HARD settings whenever possible, as this makes use of different kinds of A2G weapons to destroy harder targets like bunkers more necessary.
Enemy experience
Determies how fast enemy reacts to your presence and how often fires missiles at you.
It also affects how good is enemy at evasive maneuvers when you fire a missile at them.
It is recommended to first try with HARD setting as this makes game more dynamic.
Enemy amount
In GENERATED game mode affects initial map difficulty - how many mobile enemy units will be generated.
In 'Królewiec' campaign on easier levels some enemies are removed from the map making missions significantly easier to complete.
VERY IMPORTANT SETTING for this game mode as more strategically placed enemies make missions more interesting. It is best to try to try on EASY setting, but later complete all missions at the HARD setting.
This setting also affects how many non combat friendy and neutral objects are placed on the map (like hangar near your home runway).
This setting has no infuence on SINGLE and WARFARE game modes as they have more detailed MAP DIFFICULTY setting.
Landings
On EASY level hitting ground will never crash your plane (but you can still get destroyed due to damage from enemy).
On MEDIUM level area around runway safe for landing is larger, also higher vertical speeds of touchdown are tolerated.
Recommended is using HIGH setting.
Note that since v.2.0.0 runway is wider which greatly eases landings.
